It’s sometimes difficult to believe that hunger exists in Kansas City. Most people think of hunger in terms of famine and mass starvation — terrible tragedies, but not something that affects people every day in our own community.

Hunger in our community is often more subtle. It’s a child who stuffs his pockets during lunch at school so he has food to eat at home in the evening. It’s a parent who is ironically overweight because sugar and carbohydrate-laden foods are often the least expensive at the local store. It’s a senior citizen who goes without food in order to buy medicine, further jeopardizing her already fragile health.

The reality is that there are hungry people right in our own backyards here in Kansas City. Sibley Partners’ goal is to help bring this hunger to an end.

Sibley Partners, a real estate investment and management company, is teaming up with Harvesters, Hope City, Grandview Assistance Program, Raytown Emergency Assistance Program (REAP), along with other Kansas City emergency assistance programs. Together, these organizations are sponsoring one of the largest and most successful food drives ever organized in the metropolitan area of Kansas City. Donations received through the drive will help feed those in need throughout the Kansas City area.

Sibley Partners has provided two locations in Kansas City to drop off food items (excluding glass), such as canned vegetables, canned fruit, boxed meals, canned meats and tuna, canned soup, peanut butter and jelly, along with hot and cold cereal. Sibley Partners also welcomes individuals and the corporate community to make cash donations.
